Second Family Home Care was proud to attend the Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Conference on November 5, 2014. The conference was held at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church located at 9200 Inwood Road in Dallas, TX. This local conference was put on by the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Dallas Chapter and attendees were in excess of 100 people from a wide range of disciplines, including family caregivers. The conference was titled Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Conference: Focus on the Care Partner. Featured speakers were, Anne Lipton, M.D., Ph.D., speaking on “The 7 Common Senses of Caregiving” and Dr. P. Andrew Clifford, Ph.D. who spoke of Behaviors, Pain, and Quality of Life, Other topics included When to Transition Your Loved One to a Different Level of Care, Caregiver Depression: How to Recognize and Cope with It, and Safety in the Home: Preventative Measures for Those with Dementia and Their Caregivers. It was particularly touching to network with family caregivers and to hear first-hand the challenges they face in their day-to-day life while taking care of their loved ones.
